What this covers
These terms apply to anyone submitting a business listing to Promote Your Business (operated by InstaWebsite / Codemind Ltd) at promoteyourbusiness.co.uk. By submitting a listing, you agree to these terms.
You confirm that
- You are authorised to list the business — i.e. you own or run it, or have permission from someone who does
- The information you provide is accurate, lawful, and not misleading
- The business operates legally in the UK
- The contact email you provide is one you actively monitor
What we'll do
- Check your submission before anything is published, and aim to complete a review by a person within two working days where one is needed
- Email you the outcome (approved or rejected with a reason)
- If approved, publish your listing on a public listing page and indexable category / city pages
- Allow visitors to click through to your website (if you provided one) — these clicks are tracked anonymously
- Respond to your reasonable requests to update or remove your listing
What we won't accept
We may reject or remove listings, without notice, that:
- Promote illegal goods or services
- Are obviously spam, duplicate other listings, or misrepresent the business
- Use disposable email addresses or fake contact details
- Promote adult content, gambling outside UKGC-licensed operators, weapons, or other restricted categories
- Generate complaints from third parties about misleading or harmful information
Free, with no commitment
Listing is free. There is no commitment from you, and no payment required. Optional paid upgrades (such as featured placement) are one-off, fixed-term purchases — they never auto-renew, and a listing is never removed or downgraded below the free tier when a paid period ends. Paid features are always optional and clearly labelled.
Lifetime featured placement
A lifetime featured spot is sold once per category and town, to one business, for a single one-off payment. “Lifetime” means for as long as this directory operates, and we commit to a minimum of three years from the date of purchase. If the directory closes before then, we refund the unused share of that three-year period pro rata. The spot gives the listing the Featured badge and first position on its category-and-town page; it does not guarantee any position in Google or other search engines. The spot stays with the business that bought it and cannot be transferred or resold. If the listing is removed for breaching these terms, the spot is forfeited without refund.
Quoting and reusing what's here
Plenty of people — and, increasingly, AI assistants and answer engines — quote a directory rather than link to it. We would rather say plainly what is allowed than leave anyone guessing:
- The factual parts of a listing — business name, trade category, town, region, country, the dates it was published or last updated, and our aggregate counts — may be quoted and reused, including by AI assistants and answer engines, as long as the answer credits "Promote Your Business" and links to the page the fact came from
- The description a business writes about itself stays that business's copyright. Quote it as a quotation, with the same credit and link
- Our guides and course modules are our own work. Quote or summarise them with the same credit and a link to the guide or module quoted
- Bulk redistribution — republishing the directory, or a substantial part of it, as a dataset or as pages — needs our written permission first. Ask at [email protected]
None of this limits what a business may do with its own information, which it is free to publish anywhere it likes.
Removing your listing
Email [email protected]from the address you submitted with, and we'll remove your listing within 7 days.
No warranty
We do our best to keep the directory accurate but make no guarantees about traffic, click volumes, or business outcomes. We're not liable for losses arising from inaccurate information you provide or from listings made by third parties about you.
Changes to these terms
If we materially change these terms we'll update the "last updated" date and, where appropriate, email active listing owners.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
